Who We Are |
People's Policy Shop is led by Adrien Lorenzo Weibgen, a racial justice policy advocate and movement strategist based in New York City. PPS believes strongly that those closest to the problems must be leaders in generating solutions, and we're committed to supporting directly impacted community members and organizers in their fight to achieve a world where everyone can thrive.
Most recently, Adrien served as a founding staff member at Liberation in a Generation, a national movement support organization building the power of people of color to create an economy where all people of color can thrive. Adrien helped to build LibGen's Grassroots department from scratch and worked with over 100 movement organizations and coalitions around the country, providing hands-on support for strategic planning, leadership development and campaign strategy. Prior to LibGen, Adrien served as the Director of Training and Curriculum at the Advocacy Institute, where they trained over 600 New Yorkers from social justice and movement-building organizations on the ins and outs of legislative advocacy, and the Director of Housing & Community Development Policy at the Association for Neighborhood & Housing Development, where they led ANHD’s work around public housing and fair housing. Adrien was also a founder of, and staff attorney in, the Equitable Neighborhoods practice of the Urban Justice Center Community Development Project (now TakeRoot Justice). Adrien's work has been published in the Yale Law Journal, The New York Daily News, Next City and City Limits and featured in City & State, Teen Vogue and The New York Times, which called their post-Sandy relief effort in Coney Island "better organized than the City." A first-generation American born and raised in the NYC area, Adrien lives in Flatbush, Brooklyn and is a graduate of Yale Law School and Wesleyan University. View Adrien's CV here |
